Friday Favorites : It’s London Time

To share with you are some of my most priceless moments in London.  I made sure I relished in every single moment, of course, most of them are food related, but what else can you expect out of a foodie?  Unforgettable memories!

    1. English Tea I ended most of my meals with a cup of English Breakfast.  I loved that every single time I was served tea in London, it came in a little tea pot, oh so proper and English.  Love Europe for these little details.IMG_8665

    2. Full English Breakfast
My very first meal in London was a full English breakfast with beans, but no tomatoes.  Although the European portions are usually pretty small in comparison to American portions, a full English breakfast is certainly NOT one of them.  Delicious!

    3. Marmalade
Marmalade!  A special request from my brother-in-law, Atul.  After asking my family what was it they fancied most from London, my sister asked me to pick up some marmalade for her hubby (and my brother-in-law), and unsurprisingly I didn’t know what marmalade was.  I know, right!  I inquired and she texted me back saying, “It is orange jam.  Loser, don’t go to breakfast in England and ask the British what marmalade is?  They are so snooty about their culture, they’ll throw you out.”  Long story short, now I know what marmalade is, but why not just call it jam?  Here is to hoping I got him the very best!

    4. The Embankment
Walking along the Embankment was magical.  London is such a charming and beautiful city.IMG_8888

    5. Afternoon Tea
The highlight of my trip!  Need I say more?IMG_9018

    6. Scones & Clotted Cream
Oh yeah!  My favorite part of Afternoon Tea - warm scones with a little clotted cream and jam.  Oooh.  I’ll have to bake up some scones soon so I can reminisce about my magical Afternoon Tea experience.  It would be a shame if you visit London and don’t consider relishing in an Afternoon Tea.IMG_9030

    7. Hot Chocolate
The best hot chocolate I have EVER had at Paul - a Parisian bakery in London (and Paris) famous for their liquid hot chocolate.  Truly amazing!IMG_9089

    8. Shortbread Cookies
I know they sell them here in the United States, but enjoying a "free" Walkers cookie in a London hotel room is just a reminder of why I never purchase these oh so delicious buttery cookies.  YUM!DSC_0119

    9. London Streets
When you see those double decker red buses, ya know you’re in London.  Such a CLEAN city, at least in comparison to New York City.IMG_8649

    10. Rose Wine
Tried my first glass of Rose Wine in London and loved it.  I randomly picked up a bottle that I will be sharing with my best friend, Jhiane, this weekend!  Nothing like a great friend + great wine to drown all your sorrows with.  Therapeutic!DSC_0155

    11. Room Service
I love room service, at least once on vacation.  A cup of French Press coffee with a warm croissant and orange marmalade – there’s that word again.  Haha!IMG_8931

    12. Little bottles of Jam
I took these little bottles of jam that came with room service.  I suppose the “Indian” in me just couldn’t pass up such cute little bottles.  DSC_0072

    13. Twinings
Although I probably saved myself only a few dollars, I stocked up on Twinings English Breakfast since it originates from the UK.  I love English Tea!DSC_0128

    14. Clotted Cream & Strawberry Biscuits
Gifts I picked up for my loving family who I am so blessed to call my own!  One of the best cookies I have ever had… just imagine biting into a cookie that tastes like clotted cream, literally, with hints of strawberry.  Perfection! DSC_0101

    15. Fish & Chips
Although I ate fish & chips at a random pub, they were sooooooooo good.  Anything fried with tartar sauce is simply amazing!IMG_9209

    16. Mulberry
And before all good things come to an end, let’s just say that some “shallow” dreams do come true.  So if you are gonna invest in a Mulberry bag, I suggest Heathrow Airport, duty free baby!photo

TELL ME: Have you been to London?  What do you love about this charming city?  What do you look forward to most when you visit?

That tea photo at the top is stunning! I just love tea. Of course the fish and chips...and the shortbread...also good. Some of my faves! Must be my English background.

@Camille - really? No Brit Breakfast? It's okay, the country has so much more to offer. 🙂

@Ameena - sure. I was going to actually do the follow up posts and share. We stayed at the Sofitel St. James, I really liked it and the rooms were modern and clean. Afternoon Tea was at The Wolseley which is right next to the Ritz and close to Fortnum & Mason - thought of you. 🙂
