Madrid, Spain – where to eat, where to stay, and what to do in Madrid, including visiting the Museo del Prado.

Madrid  is a charming city with so much culture and history, especially if you are into museums, in particular, “Museo del Prado.”  In addition, I was surprised to find out that Madrid is also famous for its nightlife.  As we strolled the streets of Madrid, my husband and I took note of the great architecture and how Madrid wasn’t too crowded in comparison to other cosmopolitan cities.

Unfortunately, due to the mixed reviews online, I was in Madrid for just 1 night. Looking back I do regret not having stayed in Madrid for 2 nights since I traveled that far, however after visiting Barcelona, in my opinion, Spain’s BEST city, I now understand why most people suggested staying in Barcelona longer than Madrid.  And thus, If you are into museums and art, I recommend checking out Madrid, and at the very least because it is the capital of Spain.

2 elderly women slow dancing at Puerta del Sol… it was nice to see people of all ages and races together

the square is great for people watching, strolling, and just absorbing the architecture all around

Strolling thru Puerta del Sol during twilight… romantic and pretty

Jamon (ham) on display in most grocery stores in Madrid… it almost takes the form of art

Strolling into Plaza de Isabel II (Opera Station) from Puerta del Sol… slight resemblance to Paris in terms of architecture
