Celebrating One Year: Catch LA | West Hollywood, CA

LA Hot Spot with breathtaking views of Hollywood Hills. Catch LA is a must-do and my favorite restaurant in West Hollywood!

When my husband (then boyfriend) was courting me back in New York, we dined at Catch NY - one of my favorite restaurants in NYC (he wasn't impressed). You can imagine my surprise when he decided to take me to Catch LA on our one-year wedding anniversary. My husband knows the way to my heart is by feeding me. 🙂

    Where we Stayed?

Prior to dinner, we checked into the chic Chamberlin West Hollywood for one night. Our stay in the Executive King Suite was very comfortable, and the rooms were upscale and elegant. I highly recommend this hotel.

    Catch LA

We got ready and headed to Catch LA for dinner. Catch LA is magical from the moment you walk in, even more so than the one in New York (there I said it). Make sure you take a picture in front of the famous "Catch Door."

You're not just coming here for the delicious seafood, but also the great views and to people-watch.

Coming from a big city, it was so nice to venture out of the suburbs and dine in LA. The vibe at Catch is hip and trendy, and for a second I felt as though I was back in New York City. It's the perfect place for a date night, or a girls night out.

    Cocktails

One Too Many (right): strawberry-infused drink with Lillet Rose, coconut, avocado, rose, and lime. Slightly strong, but so delicious.
East Coast Kali (left): naturally I had to opt for an east-coast drink. 🙂 Jalapeno-infused with Grand Marnier, passionfruit, and orange, this cocktail was succulent. So well made! A favorite.

    Hot

Crispy Shrimp: The battered crispy shrimp was tossed in an orange sauce, although good, a bit too much batter for me. This would be perfect for a group, but not for just two people.

Crunchy Rice Cakes: Tuna tartare over a crunchy rice and topped with spicy mayo. The first bite was heavenly, order it! A favorite.

Cod Lettuce Wraps: Cod flavored with bourbon-miso sitting over shitake mushrooms. These little wraps were outstanding. A must-do! A favorite.

Mushroom Spaghetti: My husband who loathes mushrooms loved this dish! Wild mushroom, sugar snap peas, fresh tomatoes, Parmesan, topped with peppery arugula - this dish has it all! On top of that, it's flavored with truffle oil. An obvious choice for vegetarians, a great choice for everyone. A favorite.

    Complimentary (not on the menu)

Grilled Artichoke: Grilled artichokes tossed in a tomato chili sauce with a hint of spice. Excellent, but sadly this dish is not on the menu. This may be available upon request. A favorite.

    Entree

Herb-Roasted Branzino: Branzino fillet sitting over a bed of creamy vegetable basmati rice and basil oil. The fish was tender and flaky, the rice had a subtle lemon and tart flavor from the yogurt. A winning combination! A favorite.

    Dessert

"Hit Me" Chocolate Cake: They call this Hit Me because you literally have to hit the cake and break it, and outcomes vanilla ice cream. I loved the roasted white chocolate ice cream that tasted more like butterscotch in between the two brownie layers. Scrumptious! A favorite.

    RESTAURANT REVIEW
    Catch LA

    COST: $$$$
    CUISINE: Seafood, Sushi
FAVORITES: One Too Many | East Coast Kali | Crunchy Rice Cakes | Cod Lettuce Wraps | Mushroom Spaghetti | Grilled Artichoke | Herb-Roasted Branzino | "Hit Me" Chocolate Cake

    OVERALL: 4.75 / 5

Catch LA is phenomenal and even better than the one in New York. The food here is fresh, delicious and the service here was surprisingly friendly. I say surprisingly because I wasn't expecting that from a restaurant that seems a little pretentious with a slightly clubby atmosphere.

The one complaint is the portions, yes the portions are small, but you're also paying for the ambiance and quality food. Come here with an open mind and you'll leave happy. Very highly recommended!

    Food: Outstanding | Drinks: Outstanding | Décor: Trendy/Dressy | Service: Friendly/Professional | Value: Pricey
