    Dining in Seville | Spain

Seville is a romantic and magical city in Spain that welcomes you with open warms.  Enjoy al fresco dining along with some sangria and tapas.  Traditional tapas in the Andalucían region of Spain consist of Espinacas con Garbanzos (spinach with chickpeas),  Pescado Frito (fried fish), and more.  And before you head home, don’t forget to pick up a bottle of Seville Orange Marmalade.

    1. Bar Toro Toro (lunch, tapas, dinner)
A cute little restaurant that offers al fresco dining.  Menu in English.

refreshing & fruity Sangria and complimentary bread as starters

Espinacas con Garbanzos (spinach with chickpeas) – one of the main specialties of the Andalucían region. Creamy & delicious!

Ratatouille with Fried Eggs (left) – a vegetarian dish sautéed with tomatoes, onions, and eggplant. Good, not amazing.
Breaded Chicken with Fries & Fried Eggs (right) – delicious chicken.

LOCATION: Mateos Gago, 2 (Santa Cruz district -close to the main square)
    COST: €€

    CUISINE: Spanish/Andalucían
    VERDICT: 4 / 5
This was the best meal in Seville with a few vegetarian/chicken options. In addition, the sangria was so incredibly good and fruity which was exactly what we needed in the blistering Seville heat.  Definitely check out Bar Toro Toro which can’t be missed since it is so close to the main square.

    2. Casa Pepe Hillo (lunch, tapas, dinner)
Nice ambience at this pretty restaurant that unfortunately lacked vegetarian/fish/chicken options.

    Pretty and romantic restaurant

delicious complimentary bread & wonderful Sangria

Espinacas con Garbanzos (spinach with chickpeas) – very good, but not as creamy as Bar Toro Toro which was much better.

Gamba de Croquettas (shrimp corquettas) – fried & crunchy on the outside, creamy mashed shrimp on the inside. The sauce that accompanied these tapas were so delicious and similar to that of a Southwestern dip.

LOCATION: Calle Pastor y Landero 24, Sevilla
    MENU: n/a
    COST: €€
    CUISINE: Spanish/Andalusian
    VERDICT: 3 / 5
Although this place was good, it was about a 5 minute from the El Arenal district and I don’t think it was exceptional. Let me also reiterate that my choices were very limited in Spain since I don’t eat red meat, however you may have better luck here if you eat red meat and diner here.  You are better off considering a place in the heart of Santa Cruz or in El Arenal to avoid the extreme heat.

    3. Horno San Buenventura (coffee & desserts)
An average coffee & dessert spot in Seville.

    plethora of desserts

Café con Leche, very average for European standards.

Crème Éclair – good, but nothing out of the ordinary.

LOCATION: Plaza de la Alfalfa, 9 (Santa Cruz district)
    COST: €
    CUISINE: Bakery/Patisserie
    VERDICT: 3 / 5
This café was alright, in my opinion, a bit too average for European standards. Since there are very few café options in the Santa Cruz district, Horno San Buenventura is quite popular amongst tourists. Furthermore, this cafe is a great late night hangout to people watch and just absorb the magic of Seville.

TELL ME: Have you been to Seville? If so, where did you eat?  Did you enjoy the food?

I'm so sad I won't be able to get to Seville on our trip next month...it looks gorgeous! What a beautiful hotel - the fountain alone is worth the bad water pressure. 🙂

I studied in Granada for six months last year and only made it to Sevilla once, but it's gorgeous! Unfortunately it rained most of the time I was in the city. The cathedral is amazing! The largest gothic cathedral in the world. The inside is so wonderful, I hope you're planning on going inside!

@Claire - food was good once I found the vegetarian/chicken stuff.
@Hilliary - I feel that way right now and I've already been there. Loved Seville.
@Ameena - wow, so you are going to Spain? That's awesome, we'll talk about it. I bet Barcelona is on your list.
@Roni - you won't believe this, but no I didn't go inside. 🙁 And I need to visit Granada.
