In the past couple months I’ve grown to love Trader Joe’s Chevre Fine Herbs Goat Cheese, and I’m sure you guys know if you follow me on social media. For the longest time goat cheese tasted like feet to me, but somehow the Trader Joe’s Chevre version doesn’t quite have that affect. My favorite way to eat this particular goat cheese is in the most traditional way possible, in a beet salad. Here are some of my latest Trader Joe’s finds.
1. Trader Joe’s Chevre Fine Herbs Goat Cheese
As I mentioned above, I am warming up towards Trader Joe’s Chevre Fine Herbs Goat Cheese. It’s not my favorite cheese in the world, but it is one that I have come to appreciate. This goat cheese from TJ’s tastes absolutely incredible in my Beets Strawberry & Goat Cheese Arugula Salad – this salad is seriously the best. I hope you guys try it if you haven’t already. Love it.
2. Trader Joe’s Island Salsa
This Mango Pineapple Jalapeno Salsa is sweet and has a slight kick. It’s chunky with bits of mango and pineapple along with a slight kick. The Island Salsa is the perfect complement to tacos, or any Mexican dish for that matter. Like it.
3. Trader Joe’s Organic Brown Sugar BBQ Sauce and Marinade
This may be one of the best barbecue sauces I have ever had. The list of ingredients is long, but keep in mind that barbecue sauce is typically made up of at least 21 ingredients. The good news is that most of the ingredients are pronounceable. This particular barbecue sauce at Trader Joe’s is sweet, a little spicy, and organic. Love it.
4. Trader Joe’s Wine Country Chicken Salad
I was excited to try this chicken salad for a wine and cheese night, however I found this salad too creamy. I did like the addition of cranberries and pecans which added sweetness and crunch, but it wasn’t enough. The nutrition on this chicken salad is pretty bad though… 32 grams in 1/2 a cup, yikes. Overall, decent in flavor. Just OK.
5. Trader Joe’s Southwestern Chopped Salad
I’m not sure if this particular salad kit I picked up was stale because it wasn’t good at all. The tortilla chips and nuts tasted stale to me, not to mention the salad looked old. This was surprising since the salad wasn’t even expired. Furthermore, the spicy southwest avocado dressing was a total disappointment since the cotija cheese dominated the flavor. Yeah, it’s not too often that I dislike items at Trader Joe’s. Dislike.
