Salad, really? 🙂 Indian salads often do not consist of Lettuce, it is usually just a few ingredients topped off with some kind of spice and lemon/lime juice. In general, Indians do not eat salad as a starter, it is usually incorporated within the meal as a side dish. For example, when making some kind of rice dish (Pulao), there will generally be salad on the side, some pickle, and some yogurt. The lemon/lime salad is tangy and enhances the overall flavor of any dish. Try this salad with some rice, yogurt and pickle on the side... it's so good and takes 10 minutes to put together. Did I mention, it is FATFREE!
NUTRITION: Tomatoes are a great source of Vitamins A and C. Onions and Cucumbers are a very good source of Vitamin C. Lime is an excellent source of Vitamin C, lots of Antioxidants!
Cucumber - 1 big (peeled & cubed)
Plum Tomato - 1 (cubed)
Red Onion - 1 medium (sliced)
Lime/Lemon - 1 (juiced)
Green Chillies - 2 (leave it whole - see below)
MDH Chat Masala - 1 tsp
Fresh Coriander Leaves - half a handful (chopped)
1. Here is what you will need.
2. Chop the cucumber and tomato. Slice the onions. Add to a bowl.
3. Chop the stem off the green chilli, leave it whole.
4. Add the coriander leaves. Juice the lime/lemon.
5. Sprinkle the Chat Masala.
