They’re easy, they're decadent, they're indulgent, definitely a one night thing, hence slutty.
Hey, don’t blame me, I didn’t come up with the name.
Twice a year I condone myself for using an obscene amount of fat in my baked goods, Christmas and on my Birthday, and for these brownies I'm talking 18 tablespoon of butter, my poor arteries.
A while ago I pinned these decadent brownies on my PInterest board.
I figured making them for my birthday group celebration would be ideal cause I sure as hell wasn’t going to eat all these brownies by myself (or let my husband devour them all).
Luckily, many people had the chance to try these Slutty Brownies, including my bestie, Jhiane, who gave me a little surprise visit, along with my family.
Everyone thought these brownies were way too rich and too sweet, despite the fact I lowered the sugar amount, however everyone enjoyed the flavor of these brownies. More comments all the way down.
For now, I think I’ll stick to the classy ones.
NUTRITION: Well, besides the fiber and antioxidants in cocoa powder there is no nutrition in this recipe. If fat is an issue, don’t make these, they are lethal.
APPROXIMATE NUTRITION PER SERVING (yields 16 squares @ 350 degrees):
- Calories: 377 cals
- Fat: 20 g
- Saturated Fat: 11 g
- Carbs: 51 g
- Protein: 4.9 g
- Fiber: 0.75 g
INGREDIENTS (original recipe from What’s Gaby Cooking, slight modifications made below on sugar):
for the brownie layer:
- Unsalted Butter – 10 tbsp (melted)
- White Sugar – 1 cup
- Ghirardelli Cocoa Powder – ¾ cup
- Salt – ⅓ tsp
- Pure Vanilla Extract – 2 tsp
- Organic Eggs – 2
- All Purpose White Flour – ½ cup
for the oreo cookie layer:
- Newman’s Own Organics Original O’s – 16 cookies ( I didn’t have the heart to use the original Oreo cookies given the horrible list of ingredients, Newman’s O’s have the same amount of fat as regular Oreos, however they are organic cookies without high fructose corn syrup )
for the cookie dough layer:
- Unsalted Butter – 8 tbsp (room temperature)
- Brown Sugar – ¼ cup
- White Sugar – ½ cup
- Organic Egg – 1
- Pure Vanilla Extract – 1 ¼ tsp
- All Purpose White Flour – 1 ¼ cups
- Salt – ⅓ tsp
- Baking Soda – ½ tsp
- Baking Powder – ½ tsp
- Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips – ¾ cup
DIRECTIONS:
for the brownie layer
1. Grease a 9” x 9” with butter.
2. Start by melting butter over a double boiler.
3. Once melted, add sugar and cocoa powder.
4. Using a whisk, mix until all the ingredients are mixed completely.
5. Turn off the heat and remove the mixing bowl from the double boiler. Set aside to cool for a few minutes.
6. Once cooled, add the eggs, vanilla, and salt. Mix again until well incorporated.
7. Add the flour. Mix, but do not over mix.
8. Set the batter aside.
9. At this time preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
for the cookie dough layer
10. In a separate mixing bowl, combine the butter, brown and white sugars.
11. Using an electric mixer, cream all the ingredients for about 3 minutes until light and fluffy.
12. Once creamed, add the vanilla and egg, and mix again until all the ingredients are mixed completely.
13. This is what you want… a light mocha color.
14. Add the dry ingredients… flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
15. Mix on low until all the ingredients are combined, DO NOT OVER MIX.
16. Once done, fold in semi-sweet chocolate chips. Here is your cookie dough batter.
17. Transfer the cookie dough batter to your baking tray. Spread out evenly.
18. Add your Oreo cookies, in my case, Newman’s Original O’s.
19. Pour the chocolate brownie batter over the top.
20. Make sure it is evenly spread.
21. Into the oven for 30-35 minutes, but I baked mine for 40 minutes.
22. Result.
OVERALL: 3.5 / 5
Okay, let’s begin! I lowered the sugar amount in both the brownie and cookie dough batter recipes by a ¼ cup each, despite that, these brownies were way too sweet. So sweet that I had a toothache. Just after a day of making these, the brownies dried out which is quite shocking given they have 2 ¼ sticks of butter. I’m baffled! Everyone enjoyed the taste of these brownies, but the sweetness overpowers the flavor of the brownie. Furthermore, these brownies taste best when warm, whipped cream will go well so it offsets some of the sweetness.
My friend, Jhiane, later asked me why am I posting this recipe on my blog if I wasn't quite impressed. LOL – I couldn’t help but laugh – LOL! Well because they are a phenomena in the blog world and I’m not quite sure why. And that’s why I need to know, if you guys made Slutty Brownies, what are your thoughts?
TELL ME: If you’ve made Slutty Brownies, what’s your take on them? Are they amazing? Are they just okay? Am I being too harsh? Am I the only one who doesn't think they are amazing? Thoughts!

I love that you posted about them and your opinion...especially since they look & sound wonderful! I actually bought Betty Crocker choc chip cookie and brownie mixes so that I could make these but have not gotten around to! Your review is making me think otherwise- if I'm going to eat an obscene amount of butter in one shot, I want it to be worth it 🙂
honeywhatscooking says
Thanks K. The original recipe actually uses store bought cookie and brownie mixes, so perhaps you'll have better luck. It's probably worth baking once and seeing if you like it, I guess everyone has different taste buds. 🙂
Parita says
I have never tried these kind of brownies - probably too dangerous to have around! I have made cookie dough cheesecake (cookie dough on the bottom with a cheesecake filling on top) and it's incredible. And I love that you're honest with your reviews - very refreshing!
honeywhatscooking says
They are definitely dangerous, that's why you gotta share them. Your cookie dough cheesecake sounds incredible... I have to make that. Thanks P.. try to be honest, but what I may not like someone else may like.
Dixya says
absolutely loved this post and how you are honest about your opinion. I have never tried it before but looks pretty darn good.
honeywhatscooking says
Thanks Dixya. Maybe it's worth trying to see if you like it.

I've made these several times, and loved them every time! They are to die for in my opinion as well as everyone who has ate them. Everyone has different tastes, so just because one person doesn't care for them, doesn't mean you should skip out - just try them! You'll never know if you like them until you do.
honeywhatscooking says
True.. what I may not like someone else may like... hence this blog post to see who has tried these brownies and likes/dislikes them. 🙂
Pam says
Holy cow. These babies look so decadent, rich, and delicious. Amazing!
honeywhatscooking says
Yes.. very rich and decadent.
Anne ~ Uni Homemaker says
Haha, that's a cute name for these! A big glass of milk with some of these babies will make my day! 🙂
honeywhatscooking says
Milk would definitely take away some of that sweetness. 🙂
Ameena says
No nutritional value? Too much butter and sugar? Sounds like something my husband would LOVE. I won't be making these for him though, mostly because I can't make anything with that much butter. Plus I'm lazy. 🙂
honeywhatscooking says
Haha... probably not worth making them anyway since they aren't a 5 given the amount of fat... I have issues using too much butter, but there are usually exceptions. 🙂

So, so very slutty and I love it! When else is slutty SUCH a good thing?
honeywhatscooking says

I remember making these... slutty brownies are the best if not better 😀

Holy cow! These are absolutely lethal but made on a perfect occasion! Birthdays etc are when I also usually allow myself for a mindless indulgence 😉
honeywhatscooking says
Definitely lethal, but okay tasting. Glad I made them for a group on my birthday, when else would I indulge like this?
Eva @ Eva Bakes says
Look how fudgy and gooey the brownie layer looks! I am so tempted to lick your whisk!!
honeywhatscooking says
Yeah, definitely very fudgy and gooey. Haha.
Amelia Grace says
Omg yum! I think if you're going to eat sweets, eat it properly, butter, sugar, everything!! Great recipe
honeywhatscooking says
haha.. I know.. but this was over the top, and it didn't quite meet my expectations. 🙁
Kiersten @ Oh My Veggies says
You're definitely entitled to some extra fat and calories on your birthday! I've never tried slutty brownies myself, but since you said they're too sweet, I'm guessing they'd probably be too sweet for me too...
honeywhatscooking says
I think the semi-sweet chocolate chips + oreo cookies + insane amount of sugar was just too much, I lowered the sugar and it was still too much. I guess everyone's sweetness level is different. I'm glad I tried them though. Too slutty to resist. 🙂
Tasha says
Do you think using storebought brownie mix and sugar free oreos would lower the sugar amount?
honeywhatscooking says
So sorry Tasha, I never replied to this. The original recipe called for a store bought brownie mix, however I rarely ever bake from a box. Store bought brownie mix will definitely contain more sugar, I think, than baking from scratch. Sugar free oreos, hmmm, are they really sugar free, no artificial sweeteners? Sometimes I find them to be even sweeter than regular sugar. Sorry I can't be of much help.
sluttybrownies.net says
Were wonderful, although it took a lot of time washing them until cooked. But definitely worth the wait. became great
honeywhatscooking says
Glad you like them, I'm not a fan unfortunately. 🙂
