After 4 long weeks, I finally met up with my two girlfriends, Jhiane and Marian, for dinner. Since my India trip, I was craving Latin food and some much needed gossip with my girls. We decided to try, La Isla Restaurant, in Hoboken, NJ.

I tried the Pollo Enchilado which comes with 2 sides, I selected Tostones and Arroz con Gandules. I personally thought the chicken was too tough and a bit chewy. The creole sauce was good, but nothing special. The tostones (fried plantains) were pretty good, however there was no garlic butter sauce on the side… I was looking forward to the sauce. The arroz con gandules (yellow rice) was very good.
VERDICT – 3 / 5
Overall, I thought this place was okay. I have had better Cuban food in New York City, so I give this place a 3 out of 5. I want to try this place again… however, this time I’ll try the black beans, chicken empanadas, cafe con leche, and brunch!!! My friend ordered the beef empanadas and they looked really good.
