Eatery | New York City (CLOSED)

This past Friday I was lucky enough to attend the taping of The Oprah Show at Radio City Music Hall in New York City.

You can read about my experience… I broke this up into 2 parts 🙂

Part 1 of my Oprah story
Part 2 of my Oprah story

After the show, my friend, Marian, and I went to lunch at Eatery on 53rd and 9th.  I was really excited to try this place… supposedly they have amazing Mac and Jack.  At the restaurant, once I saw some of the healthful options under their lunch specials, I quickly changed my mind.  I was having such a great day… it was gorgeous outside, I was in New York, I saw OPRAH, did I really wanna eat unhealthy food and ruin it?  Nah!

Just FYI… since I wasn’t allowed to bring a camera to the Oprah Show, I used my phone to take pictures at Eatery… so the pictures posted aren’t the best quality.

LOCATION
798 Ninth Ave. at 53rd St.
New York, NY 10019

(Midtown West)

AMBIENCE
Eatery is a chic restaurant that appears contemporary on the outside, as well on the inside.  There is outdoor seating here and this place quickly fills up lunch time.  Very modern!

MENU – $$$
Eatery Menu.  Although this place is rated $$$, with the affordable lunch option, I would give it $$ lunch time.  $$$ is more appropriately priced for dinner.
The menu consists of a decent amount of vegetarian options. There were 5 lunch specials on the menu, each special came with a free soda, all for just $10.  Is that a bargain or what?  The lunch entrees range from $10-$16; dinner entrees range from $14-$23.
For 2 people:
1 lunch special (includes soda) + 1 entree + 1 drink = $34 (including tip)

RECOMMENDED HEALTHY EATS… choices below are based on my knowledge of Food and Nutrition. There is no online nutritional information available for Eatery. Please use your own discretion when making a decision.

MY REVIEW
For starters, our waiter served us these fried chips at no charge, I am not sure what it is, but it taste great.

I ended up ordering the Farmers’ Market Pasta which included tomatoes, red peppers, mushrooms, and cubes of mozzarella all cooked in a pesto sauce.  My dish was topped off with a little parmesan cheese… D-I-V-I-N-E!!!  I had a diet coke to go with it. I ate half my meal since I’m trying to work on my portion control.

Marian ended up ordering their signature Mac and Jack which seemed like a small portion, however I am sure it was very filling.  The Mac and Jack were topped off with fried onions… I don’t think it gets any better.  I had a bite and it was really good.

Marian also had some kind of lemon raspberry drink which I didn’t like, but she loved it.

VERDICT – 4 / 5
In one word, AMAZING!  The service at Eatery is great, the waiters are so friendly who return back often to check on you.  The restaurant is clean and chic.  The food here is amazing.  During lunch time, you do get value for your money.  I look forward to coming here for dinner and trying the drinks… I already have my eyes set on the Lychee-Pear Martini.  It’s been a while since I’ve been to a restaurant where everything was just perfecto!  Highly recommended!
