Product Review: Cedarlane – Beans, Rice & Cheese Style Burrito (Made with Organic)

The time has come for me to do my very first product review.  I love trying new food products, particularly those that are healthy, all natural, organic, you get the idea, so I figured why not review them, too.

Today’s review is the Cedarlane Beans, Rice & Cheese Style Burrito which was introduced to me by my brother.  He purchased the burritos at Costco (his most favorite place in the world), and of course, I followed in his footsteps.  I couldn’t believe these burritos merely contained 1 gram of fat each, I had to see for myself how good these really were.

As you all know this week I’m taking it easy on my back and working from home.  I had these burritos in my freezer so I had one for lunch.  I followed the directions and heated a burrito in the microwave for two minutes with a paper towel.  It filled me up nicely without feeling too heavy.

VERDICT – 4.5 / 5
First off, the Cedarlane Beans, Rice & Cheese Style Burrito has a bunch of pros which are reason enough to purchase these burritos.  Just the fact that these burritos are at least 70% organic, all natural, and low fat is the reason I tried them.

The burrito tasted really good, however the wrap was a bit dry towards the ends.  Keep in mind these burritos contain soy cheese which is much lower in fat than regular cheese.  I guarantee you will not be able to taste the difference.  This burrito was moist, yummy, and with lots of flavor.  It would have been a good idea if Cedarlane just added some organic salsa inside the burrito which may have helped keep the wrap moist.  In order to avoid dryness, you need to follow the directions and microwave this burrito in a paper towel.  Lastly, I felt the packaging was sooooooo misleading.  The burrito appears to be so much bigger than it really is.

Overall, the burrito was filling for me, but didn’t make me feel ridiculously full, it felt just right.  Considering how low fat and healthful these burritos are, strangely enough the wraps aren’t whole wheat.  I would dress these up with some homemade guacamole and salsa… maybe a little reduced fat sour cream for added creaminess.  Honestly, I am keen on trying Amy’s Organic burritos, however they are higher in fat.  Well, it’s a trade-off.

WOULD I PURCHASE AGAIN – Yes, definitely!
The Cedarlane burrito tastes pretty good considering the amount fat in each burrito.  I would definitely purchase these again since they come in handy as a quick lunch meal without any guilt.  My only complaint is the wrap felt slightly dry at times.  In addition, it would be nice to see a whole wheat version of these burritos.

Tell Me: If you tried this product, what are your thoughts on it?

This burrito is OK. After I cut off 50% of ridiculously oversized tortilla.
That’s how manufacturer makes profit using more valuable product (in this case what is inside)
in lesser amounts. That’s how they make burrito looks big and charge $1.25 for it.
Now compare what you see on the box (half sliced burrito – one layer of tortilla) with reality – 3 or 4 layers.
    For me this is scam.

These burritos are awesome! Low fat, high fiber, filling, tasty, not greasy, and they don't give me gas either! Can't find them anywhere except good old Costco. They better not get rid of these!

The cooking directions for conventional ovens is waaaaay off on cooking times. A frozen burrito has taken me at least one hour to get the center hot. This is a far cry from the 25-30 minutes it says on the packaging

These are a weight-loss staple! Lost over 100lbs using these in my mix of foods. Costco no longer sells in MI, I am going to pursue mfr.
