Product Review: Amy's Organics - Burrito Especial (Made with Organic)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MINI (for yesterday)  🙂

Amy's Organics sent me a recent delivery to review their products, and along with it a cute green bag reading, "Amy's Organics."  I was thrilled to say the least.

I'm a huge fan of Amy's products since they are Made with Organic which means more than 70% of the ingredients are organic, in addition, Amy's products contain No GMOs.

Since my husband has been away, I'm not so fond of cooking for just 1 person, hence why I resort to my occasional frozen meal.  Today that meal was the Burrito Especial (Made with Organic Black Beans, Rice, & Tomatoes).

Lastly, I just want to wish my sister, Mini, a very Happy Birthday from yesterday.  I didn't post on November 11, so I just wanted to acknowledge it here.  🙂

    VERDICT - 4 / 5
In terms of taste alone, this burrito tasted awesome - I'd easily give it a perfect score.  There was a flavorful tomato-based Spanish sauce going on in the background which helped keep the burrito really moist.  The Burrito Especial also contained rice, black beans, and cheese.  I'm glad this burrito is made with wheat flour, however it doesn't mention what percentage of the wrap is comprised of wheat.  Based on looks alone, this burrito appears to be made with white flour as well.

The Burrito Especial was filling for me, however on days where I was more hungry, I paired this up with a Chobani Yogurt.  The texture of this wrap was extremely soft, and the filling was very moist.  If you follow the directions exactly and microwave the burrito in a paper towel, the wrap will be soft, not chewy.

My issue with this burrito was the sodium level.  Amy's products are known to have high levels of sodium, so I was happy to find out they do have products which contain 50% less sodium than the original.  Currently, they do have a Light in Sodium Bean & Cheese Burrito which I would love to try out.  The other issue was fat.  Although 7 grams of fat isn't terrible in the burrito, I felt it could have been lowered slightly.  Ideally speaking, anything 5 grams or less would be nice with absolutely no saturated fat.  Amy's Organics - Burrito Especial gets a 3 out of 5 simply because of the nutrition, however in terms of flavor alone it gets a perfect score of 5.  This brings the average score to 4 out of 5.

WOULD I PURCHASE AGAIN - Yes, but I'd try the Light in Sodium burritos first.

Besides the high sodium and slightly high fat, these burritos tasted awesome.  I loved the flavor and texture of the Burrito Especial.  It would be nice if Amy's made a 100% Whole Wheat version of this burrito and lowered the fat and sodium.

Tell Me: If you tried this product, what are your thoughts on it?
