This past weekend Marian’s friends and I celebrated her (Marian) birthday.
We headed to Galli, a romantic, rustic restaurant nestled in Soho.
Galli offers Italian comfort food in a candlelit atmosphere, one that is warm, cozy, and intimate.
I especially loved the charming little room situated in the back with imperfectly placed mirrors hanging against a brick wall.
REVIEW
Both Marian and I started off with a cocktail named Lili’s Curves, such a pretty and unique name. This concoction was prepared with muddled strawberries, Espolon tequila, housemade black peppercorn syrup, and lime bitters. A little strong with the tequlia, but oh so delicious. We both loved it!
We were also served a complimentary Bread Basket with Extra Virgin Olive Oil and Balsamic Vinegar on the side. The EVOO was especially yummy!
Marian opted for the Chicken Marsala – pan seared chicken, mushrooms, brown sauce, and roasted potatoes on the side. Her dish was really good.
I went for the Gamberi which was prepared with rigatoni pasta and consisted of shrimp, broccoli, mozzarella cooked in a pink sauce. Creamy & so delicious!
Marian’s friends – Kate and her husband ordered the…
note: I can’t comment on these 2 items since I did not taste them.
Branzino – Mediterranean fillet, oven roasted herb marinade, asparagus, and cherry tomatoes. Relatively healthy.
Chicken Francese – Pan seared chicken in a white wine, lemon butter sauce with organic garden vegetables.
VERDICT: 4 / 5 - OVERALL GREAT FOOD & VALUE!
FAVORITES: Gamberi | Chicken Marsala | Lili's Curves (cocktail)
I really enjoyed my time at Galli, it truly is Italian comfort food with good service. You’ll find the most popular Italian dishes on the menu, Penne Vodka, Chicken Parmesan, Bolognese, Carbonara to name a few. The food here is undoubtedly delicious, and all items are excellently priced for Soho. I guarantee you will leave here happy. Additionally, instead of white pasta Galli offers a choice of whole wheat pasta or gluten-free pasta, loved seeing that on the menu. Lastly, this restaurant gets booked quickly, so call ahead and make reservations.

Never been to this particular restaurant. Sounds like a good place to celebrate fun occasions though!
My favorite Italian dish would have to be eggplant parm. Nothing beats the combo of eggplant, fresh tomato sauce, basil, and cheese (parm + mozzarella). YUM!

My favorite Italian restaurant is Bice...been going for at least 15 years and everyone I take loves it too!

Sounds like a terrific place! My niece lives not that far from there (east from there a few blocks and a bit south) -- I'll have to ask her if she's been. And maybe we'll all go next time we visit her! Fun review -- thanks.
