Friday’s Favorite Things – 8.30.13

1. Rouge Volupté Shine by Yves Saint Laurent
Given that I follow a few fashion blogs, I get influenced every now and then.  I recently purchased a Yves Saint Laurent lipstick, and it was the most I ever spent on lipstick, but it’s an affordable splurge a woman can make every now and then.  I purchased #9 Nude in Private.  Let’s get to the details about this amazing lipstick shall we?
a. it’s glossy and shimmery, less like a lipstick, more gloss.
b. it smells and tastes like fruits, I wanna say peachy.
c. the packaging is gorgeous.
d. the lipstick is rich in vitamins and antioxidants.
e. there is a color for EVERYONE!
f. hey, it’s YSL!

Get one, now!  I promise you won’t be letdown and it’ll probably last you a long time.  ~ $34 @ Bloomingdales or in stores @ Macys  (#9 Nude in Private)

2. Perfect-Fit Tank @ J.Crew
J.Crew is always having a 25% off sale, there is one right now until Sept 2.  I’m in love with their slim fit cotton tanks that look so good on their own and are also thin enough to wear under a cardigan.  Although I typically purchase from the petite section at J.Crew, I can sometimes get away with wearing their regular sized stuff.  I believe these tanks are for everyone that come in various colors.  So comfortable, you really can’t go wrong with the quality and fit at J.Crew.  ~ $17 to $23 (+25% off now) @ J.Crew 92098_BL7869_m

3. Minnie Pant in Bi-Stretch Wool
And another J.Crew item.  A girl cannot have enough black pants… you need the wool black pants, the linen black pants, the skinny black jeans, the skinny black pants, and now the stretch wool black pants for Fall.  These pants fit beautifully, the curves are defined, the fat is hidden, it just fits perfectly.  Ideally I wanna pair these minnie pants up with oxfords and see if I can pull off a similar look as seen on the model.  Gotta take advantage of J.Crew sales while they are still on.  ~ $118 (+25% off now) @ J.Crew (black petite)

OOh have you tried the Dior Lip Glow? I'm hooked on it, especially as I don't like to wear anything overly OTT on my lips. Love that YSL shade- interesting that it is rich in antioxidants and vitamins…on that note, the price tag is totally justifiable. After all you are spending on your health right ;)! I think the most I spent on a lipstick was about £22 which works out to about $30…whoever said buying makeup was cheap lied!

Thanks K.. I'll look up the Dior Lip Glow, maybe that'll be my next "affordable splurge." Lol.. yes, I'm spending on health, good way to justify it. Makeup is not cheap, but its good I just use it when I'm going out-out, so I rarely make these purchases. It's all good. 🙂

You may have sold me on that lipstick! I'm using a Clinque one I resurrected a while back. It's a sheer, light almost mauve color. Perfect for the office!

Can we go shopping together? The most I spent on a lipstick is a Chanel Rogue Allure lipstick for the holidays a few years back. It was so beautiful and sadly, I only used it a few times because I wanted to save it for special occasions. I also love that J.Crew has all the sales, all the time. I don't think I ever paid full price for their items online, plus my credit card has a great point system with J.Crew. I'm going to have to check out their pants!

Haha.. sure Tara. Oooh.. Chanel? I'll have to check out that color. Yeah, I no longer believe in saving anything for special occasions, life is just too short so I buy whatever I want. They have a constant sale, I never pay full price there either. 🙂

I'm not into Lipsticks, but this YSL is more of a gloss, so pretty. Love J.Crew, really grew on me.

I want to love J. Crew's pants but they are always a bit baggy on me…I think they don't have enough lycra or something to stay tight. But they always look good in the store! Wish they fit.

love your entire list – I bought two YSLs at Heathrow once – one for my friend (as a gift) and realized, she can't have one if I dont, so bought myself one. It was a nude and it didn't look as good on me as I had hoped – I was $70 lighter! I like this shade though – I need a little tint in it to show up on my lips.
Love the wool pants – might go looking for those!

That's so sweet of you to buy ysl for your friend too. The color I bought is nice but I have to wear a lot of it since it is faint. I prefer lighter colors anyway. 🙂

I made a delicious marinade for the paneer and sauteed it along with the veggies. Assemble your whole wheat quesadillas and cook until the cheese has melted. The best part about this dish is my "special taco sauce" which complements these quesadillas perfectly.

Also, a happy mothers day to all of you who want to be moms. ❤️ This is the most challenging role of my life, but the journey is totally worth it. Krish has made me a stronger and happier person. He gives new meaning to my life. And lastly, my kid couldn’t give me one nice picture of us in Hawaii… there’s either someone in the back or he’s making a face or he just wants to get away. He just can’t sit still for a minute… and with that a Happy Mother’s Day to me! 🥰

Sanjiv and I enjoyed a romantic evening at House Without A Key in peace because Krish “thankfully” fell asleep (he was behind us I promise… swipe). It was so nice to converse with my better half over live music + cocktails, delicious food, and the BEST coconut cake (last pic). A memorable meal and evening! ❤️ #mylove

It’s my first time in Hawaii and I’m loving Waikiki… the beach, food, window shopping, and city life. I love being able to walk everywhere. It’s the perfect amount of action and relaxation for me. This is totally my kinda vacation 😎! Krish has been loving all the people-watching… something he doesn’t do much of back home. He’s been flexible and has pretty much adjusted to our schedule.
