1. Waterfront

Recently a new bakery opened up across the Hudson River in downtown Jersey City – Cupcake Salon. I picked up a Chocolate Lovers cupcake from here and let me just assure you this is the BEST chocolate cupcake with chocolate buttercream I have ever had. Typically, I’m not a huge fan of chocolate on chocolate, however this cupcake takes the cake. It is so moist and the buttercream is silky and creamy. Unwillingly, I split the cupcake with my husband in an attempt not to put on weight, desserts are my weakness ya know. ~ $3 @ The Cupcake Salon

DISLIKE OF THE WEEK
Frontier’s Coconut Flavor Extract @ Whole Foods
When I came home and tasted this coconut extract I couldn’t believe how “oily” it was, that’s because it is made with cottonseed oil. YUCK! Instead of an extract providing coconut flavor, it adds more unnecessary fat to my dish, and more importantly it doesn’t even taste like coconut. Save yourself SEVEN BUCKS and just use real coconut. Imagine, I could have bought 2 cupcakes for that price.
TELL ME: Share some of your favorites and DISLIKES of this past week!
I love your blog! I love writing about food too!!!
p.s. You are such a good wife! Can't believe you shared that cupcake!

INSANE pic of New York and it makes me want to come visit all the more! Like you I am not a fan of chocolate on chocolate either but that cupcake does look good…I don’t mind just a bowl of that frosting- YUM!
I'm doing a "Friday Favorites" post today too but I'll share one of my dislikes: Pantene shampoo! I know that's pretty random but for 2 days straight, I washed my hair with it and my hair was STILL greasy after it dried…so gross! Fortunately third wash did the trick thanks to L'oreal!
That cupcake looks so decadent!! Yum!
The cupcake salon looks so heavenly! I am truly a chocolate on anything fan 😉
I'm a Costco fanatic! I love that place. 🙂 I'll have to check out the ravioli the next time I'm there. Thanks!
And Vishnu and I were just talking about how we want to visit NYC in the near future. I'll def. let you know when we do!!
I love that you pumped up the pasta with lots of fresh veggies!
The chocolate cupcakes look to die for. Perfect way to kick start the weekend. 🙂
Wow, the cupcake place looks awesome! Would definitely go on my own favourite list!
That chocolate cupcake looks amazing…I am all about chocolate on chocolate!
Coconut is so hit and miss. Sometimes I love random concoctions I find and others times? Not so much…sorry you did too!
Have a great weekend Nisha!
@Style Dilettante – thank you! I only shared the cupcake for my own selfish reasons, else I would have gotten my husband his own. 🙂
@Khushboo – lucky you that your hair produces enough oil, my curly hair is so DRY! The chocolate cupcake was yum. Come visit! 🙂
@Simone @BakerStreet @MyFudo – thanks guys, it was really yummy!
@Parita – I love Costco too, too bad I can't go as often – just once a month. You can't ever go there without dropping $200.
Yes, please let me know when you visit, I'd love to meet both of you. We can go cupcake hopping. 🙂
@Claire @Sarah – thanks guys! Add veggies and reward yourself with a cupcake.. it's balanced that way.
@Ameena – if you like chocolate on chocolate, I think you'd love this cupcake. Most of the times I love coconut, once in a while too much coconut oil makes it weird. But I love fresh coconut and shredded, of course. 🙂
that costco pasta looks really good! Happy Friday love!
What a fantastic view of NYC and the new Freedom Tower! That cupcake salon looks so adorable, too. Thanks for sharing your favorite things!
Great shot of the waterfront. Your pasta looks tasty.
I love the skyline shot of NYC! Also what would make an outing better than stopping by a bakery, but not just any bakery-one that specializes in cupcakes. Yum! Enjoy the weekend!
hi! great meeting you today at the ivy stark event at dos caminos! Love your blog!
Looks delicious!!

Hi,
What a great shot of the waterfront. My sister in law lives at Port imperial and also has a gorgeous view of the city. Every summer when I visit, I love taking long walks there.
Those cupcakes look heavenly! I have to visit this place next I am there.
@Louise – Hello! It was so nice meeting you at Dos Caminos as well. Will stop by on your website. Thank you! 🙂
@Asmita – the waterfront area is amazing summertime – from Downtown Jersey City all the way to Weehawken/Edgewater. It's like being on vacation sometimes. I'll come with you when you visit. 🙂
Thank you everyone, really appreciate all the kind words and comments.
