I went for my quarterly haircut and highlights at my salon which happens to be right next to a European gem in Chelsea – La Maison du Macaron. This café reminds me of a Parisian coffee shop with all the colorful macarons innocuously staring up at me, it’s like having a mini Paris in Manhattan, okay okay I won’t insult the Parisians. I have tried the Fleur de Sel Macaron (right) in the past and it is insanely good – a perfect blend of sweet and salty caramel. Today I went for the Lychee Rose Macaron (middle) which has a subtle hint of lychee and a more dominant flavor of rose water, so incredibly light and delicious. I also bought a Praline Macaron (left) which had a slight nutty flavor, I didn’t particularly like this flavor. Isn’t the packaging just so adorable? Before you start assuming that I ate all 3 macarons, rest assured that my husband and I split all 3 flavors. ~ $2.50 each @ La Maison du Macaron, Chelsea, New York City
I’m not too big on celebrating
Hallmark’s Valentine’s Day and all the hoopla that goes along with it, I’d much rather chill at home with some good food and dessert on Feb. 14. My husband picked up 2 very yummy cupcakes from a local bakery since he knows I love ending the night with a hot cup of tea and dessert. Although I don’t proclaim to be a chocolate lover, this Chocolate Lovers Cupcake hit the spot. The cupcake itself is made with dark chocolate, not too sweet, but it perfectly balanced with chocolate buttercream which was slightly sweet, silky, and creamy. He also picked up a Cookies & Cream Cupcake (right) which was good, but nothing in comparison to the Chocolate Lovers Cupcake (left) – fresh and straight out of the oven, hence the melted buttercream. ~ $3 @ The Cupcake Salon, Jersey City, NJ
3. Polka Dot Blouse @ H&M (desired in blue)
I spotted this gorgeous chiffon blouse a couple weeks ago and passed up on it, but I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it. This week I went to 3 different H&M stores in New York City, I’m crazy, just in search of this pretty polka dot blouse, but to my dismay it was completely sold out. I’m so in love with this top and if I’m lucky our paths will cross, somewhere, anywhere. ~ $18 @ H&M
