The Revel resort in Atalntic City offers a variety of restaurants to choose from featuring Iron Chefs and Michelin chefs. On a weekend getaway I had the opportunity to dine at 3 restaurants, my favorite amongst the 3 restaurants mentioned below is Amada which specializes in Spanish Tapas.
1. Amada (lunch or dinner)
Beautiful restaurant with ocean view seating and excellent Spanish tapas.
Together my husband and I shared 5 appetizers.
Patatas Bravas (left) – excellent fries with a spicy chipotle type sauce.
Garbanzos con Espinacas (center) – chickpeas cooked with spinach. An outstanding dish with so much flavor. My favorite.
Tortilla Espanola (right) – the tortilla was good, however the Aioli saffron sauce made this dish.
|
Gambas (left) – I was expecting shrimp, but instead ended up with jumbo prawns with hair and all. Eeek, couldn’t handle the sight of this.
|
Olla Gitana (right)… butternut squash soup to accompany her soup which she enjoyed too.
Just a tip, when dining at a Spanish Tapas restaurant, stick to tapas and food they are famous for.

The ambiance service, and food at Amada is excellent. I enjoyed every single dish with the exception of the Jumbo Prawns. The Garbanzos con Espinacas was the highlight of my meal, in addition to the spectacular ocean view. Also, keep in mind, when dining at a Spanish Tapas restaurant, avoid ordering burgers, instead go for the tapas which is a much safer choice. Will definitely return.
2. Distrito Cantina (lunch or dinner)
Interesting concept at a resort, Mexican food served from a food truck. Laid back and fun hangout in a group.
Lime Margarita (left) and Mojito (right) – both drinks were good, but I’ve had better. The Mojito was a tad bit sweet.
Arroz con Frijoles Negros (right) – authentic and delicious rice with black beans.

Everything at Distrito Cantina was good, however the black beans with rice and chicken tacos are the standouts. Overall, good Mexican food, but unfortunately some dishes didn’t measure up.
3. Alcove (breakfast or brunch)
Great breakfast option, however no ocean view seating.
Both my husband and I started off with a cup of hot coffee… so good!
My husband went for the Vegetarian Omelet with sautéed home fries. The omelet was good, but the home fries were the real winner. Loved them.

Since I didn’t really try much here, it’s hard to give Alcove a fair rating. Overall, I enjoyed the food here. The service is extremely slow though, and the prices seem abnormally high for the most basic dishes. Coming from someone who dines in New York City quite often, I’m not sure why everything is so overly priced for BREAKFAST? You are better off paying a few extra bucks and going for a fully loaded buffet breakfast, surely you can find many of them in AC.
TELL ME: Have you been to Atlantic City’s Revel or Atlantic City? If so, what are some of your favorite restaurants?
When we were in Spain last year I would cringe every time the prawns were brought to us fully intact. They couldn't understand what my problem was!
The scallops and potatoes look fabulous. Two of my favorite dishes in Spain!
so fun! and those tacos look amazeballs!!
I enjoyed my stay of revel. I loved the vastness of it and the variety of places to explore in it. I wasn't impressed with the food, but was impressed with the service and ambience.JC
The food from the Spanish restaurant looks amazing! I'll take the giant prawns with the tail intact 🙂
Everything about tapas, mexican foods, sangria, margaritas and waking up to a delicious brunch gets me hungry and so excited 🙂
Such amazing eats! I am drooling over those taco pics though, they look beyond GOOD!
@Ameena – I can't handle any kind of hairs on these little creatures. In Spain, we ordered a Seafood Paella and I was scared to eat anything. They should have a menu catered towards Americans. 🙂
@JC – Yes, I enjoyed my stay at Revel too, the food was not amazing, except Amada, but I did enjoy the food. I think when it comes to Spanish food, you have to stick with Spanish tapas, can't really do the American burger. 🙂
@Bianca – eeeek… lol… I knew you would, I can't handle the hairs and tail on that prawn. Too wild for me.
@Kiran – You and I both. Mexican food and Brunch are my 2 favorite cuisines, if brunch is even considered a cuisine?
@Natalie/@Squishy – the chicken tacos were pretty yummy, I have to say.
Hi Nisha,
The tacos look amazing!
