co-SMOOTHIE-politan... A Tribute to "Sex and the City 2" & The Official Drink of the Show (Part 1)

PART 1: WHY WE ALL LOVE SEX AND THE CITY AND HOW I CONNECTED WITH THE SHOW?

This is the day we have all been waiting for! The anticipation has been building for millions and millions of fans to finally be able to view our favorite gals on Sex and the City 2 (SATC 2). I have been super-duper excited for this movie to come out and I’m sure like tons of women out there of all ages (18+) and races. This movie has been strategically released right before Memorial Day Weekend, smart! Aren’t the sailors going to be in town this week?  πŸ™‚  FUN, FUN, FUN!!! I can only imagine how packed the movie theaters in NYC will be this week. Fashionistas all over will be enjoying a girl’s night out strutting their stuff in a sexy pair of Manolo Blahnik, wearing a designer inspired Cavalli outfit, and carrying a fake Fendi. Hey, who has to know, at least the shoes are real. I sure am booking my tickets in advance, not taking any chances in New York City… anything for the SATC girls!

Sex and the City is an obsession for me, so much so that when the show ended, I watched reruns over and over on TNT. I am proud to admit I own all six seasons of SATC and often watch the episodes over and over with my girlfriends having tea and cupcakes. My husband thinks I have serious issues to be able to watch the show repeatedly. Whatever, he just doesn't get women! I just can’t help it, there are so many scenes that I can relate to and learn from… for this reason and many more, the show will always remain an obsession for me. Whenever I’m down, I watch SATC. Whenever I’m happy, I watch SATC.

So what is the hoopla that surrounds SATC that has everyone going so crazy? Is it this fascination with being single in your 30s and living in the fabulous New York City? Or is it the constant relationship drama between Mr. Big and Carrie? Or is it the friendships between Carrie, Charlotte, Miranda, and Samantha? Or is it the amazing fashion on the show… the outfits, the bags, and the shoes? We each have our reasons for loving the show. For me personally, it was the pressure of being single. Being of Indian origin you can only imagine the pressure I had to endure being single at 25, 26, 27, 28, tick tock the clock goes! The incessant lectures from my mom on how I was getting too old and I had to try "harder" to find someone. How much harder was the question?!?!? Arrrrggghhh! SATC was almost a lifesaver and came into my life when I needed it most. By watching the show I learned it was okay to be single and lovin’ it. SATC made me realize that being single was a time in my life I would never get back, and I needed to focus on my friendships and having fun, rather than dwelling on not having Mr. Right. By doing so I was opening myself up to new possibilities.

Carrie: β€œBut the most exciting, challenging and significant relationship of all is the one you have with yourself. And if you can find someone to love the you, you love, well, that's just fabulous.”

On a side note, didn't Sarah Jessica Parker look absolutely stunning at the NYC Premiere of Sex and the City 2? I thought so and her dress was so vibrant.

And another note, my best friend, Anu, got me this silly martini glass which reads, "Be Naughty." I guess it is appropriate for this post. πŸ™‚

And now I bring you the official drink of Sex and the City, the Cosmopolitan, in form of a smoothie, hence coSMOOTHIEpolitan... I can say I invented this.  I substituted freshly squeezed orange juice for Cointreau liquor and added strawberries to obtain a smoothie like texture.  In addition, I wasn't able to find cranberries which is the main ingredient, so I selected a cranberry juice without high fructose corn syrup... got it at Wegmans.

NUTRITION: In one word, ANTIOXIDANTS!!! Cranberry Juice, Oranges, Strawberries and Limes are an excellent source of Vitamin C.

This looks so good!! Your other smoothie posting looked great as well!! Your postings have convinced me to get a blender or a Magic Bullet......so much cheaper to make these smoothies at home rather than pay $5 for one!

      Hi Christina...
Thanks. The Magic Bullet is awesome... I do so much with it. You can get it for $50, so much cheaper than a blender. THe smoothies are such a rip off outside πŸ™‚ And you can make your smoothies with the real thing, rather than sugar syrups.

Oh my gosh, when I come over Saturday for our fun and fabulous SATC2 night out in NYC you have to make that amazing looking cosmo smoothie. It looks much better than the regular cosmos. I'm sooo looking forward to our SATC2 night out.

Thank you Anu and Jhiane. Your comments are lovely! Anu, there is no party, we'll have a SATC party when you are in town next.

Jhiane, if time permits, sure I'll blend you a smoothie, however this is an alcohol-free beverage. Please take note. πŸ™‚
