A BanaRaspElla Smoothie… for my BFF, Anu!

I know what you’re thinking, “What in the world is a BanaRaspElla Smoothie?”  This recipe is one of my creations… Bana for Banana, Rasp for Raspberry, Ella for Nutella.  Do the math!

My bff, Anu, who now lives in London, is an absolute chocolate lover.  I just spoke with her this morning, infact she woke me up at 10:30 am.  Hey, I don’t have kids, yet!  After 12 years of friendship and being an ocean apart, we still manage to speak past an hour.  I don’t know how time flies with her.  It’s one of those effortless friendships.  I hope more than anything she moves back to the United States… I can only imagine how many hours we’d spend chatting in person.  I miss those days!

Banana Raspberry Nutella SmoothieSo back to chocolate!  Anu gets so excited at the thought of chocolate, anything chocolate, to begin with, chocolate, then chocolate brownies, hot chocolate, chocolate cake, chocolate frosting, is there anything left?  Anytime I mention the word chocolate to her, she says, “oooooooo, that sounds good!”  More than chocolate, she loves Nutella.  I don’t know anyone who loves Nutella as much as Anu.  She tries to use Nutella wherever possible, in brownies, in cakes, in frostings, anything.  So I thought why not make a smoothie that Anu would love, a smoothie with some kind of chocolate, Nutella.

Bananas and raspberries happen to be my two absolute favorite fruits.  Honestly!  I’m not a fruit person at all, I hate eating them, and it’s so much work.  However, I’m not getting any younger and I need to incorporate more fruits in my diet which is why I’ve been on a smoothie craze lately.  The exception is bananas and raspberries, the only two fruits that I can eat anytime.

So in honor of my best friend, Anu, I wanted to make a smoothie that combined my favorite fruits and her favorite ingredient, Nutella.  Corny enough for you?  🙂

NUTRITION: Bananas are a very good source of Vitamin B6. They are also a good source of Vitamin C and Fiber.
Raspberries are an excellent source of Vitamin C and Fiber, in addition to Antioxidants.  They are a good source of Folic Acid and Omega 3 Fatty Acids.
Milk is a very good source of Calcium and Vitamin D. It is also a good source of Protein, Vitamins A and K.
Nutella is surprisingly made of Skim Milk, however it does contain a decent amount of fat, it is hazelnut chocolate after all.

INGREDIENTS:

  • Ice Cubes – 2
  • Milk 1% – 1/2 cup
  • Banana – 1 medium
  • Raspberries – 1/2 cup
  • Nutella – 1 dollop (shown below)

DIRECTIONS:
1. Here is what you’ll need.

2. Add ice and milk to a Blender/Magic Bullet.

3. Add banana.

4. Add raspberries.

5. Add Nutella… YUM!!!

6. Blend.

7. Pour and serve.  I love the color!

Heaven in a bowl. I can’t tell you how easy it i Heaven in a bowl. I can’t tell you how easy it is to make TOFU THAI RED CURRY - even if you can’t find kaffir lime leaves. There is no ginger and garlic in this recipe, and there is no need to sauté the veggies. Simply add raw veggies to a simmering coconut gravy and cook the veggies for a few minutes. Flavor the sauce and garnish. Tofu Thai Red Curry is a classic and is the perfect combo of sweet, spicy, and salty flavors.
