Baked Jalapeno Poppers stuffed with Cream Cheese (gluten-free, lightened up)

Skip the unhealthy version and make this… Baked Jalapeno Poppers stuffed with Cream Cheese.

Confession.  TGIF’s Cream Cheese stuffed Jalapeno Poppers are my most favorite processed food item, and I always have a box sitting in the freezer.  baked jalapeno poppers 169

Friends and family who are super close to me know that jalapeno poppers are my biggest weakness, obviously I eat them in moderation.baked jalapeno poppers 172
After poppers, I’d have to say my next 2 favorite processed food items are frozen samosas and then Mrs. Smith’s Dutch Crumble Apple Pie which I only bake on special occasions.  Okay okay, that’s it!  That’s seriously all the bad “processed” food I eat, the rest is usually healthy, or at least anything you can find at Whole Foods.baked jalapeno poppers 157
Whenever my girlfriends come over, I ALWAYS offer them jalapeno poppers with tea… I’m beginning to think it’s just a strategy I use so I can eat them too, and a food lover loves company.baked jalapeno poppers 175
Recently, I had about 10 jalapenos sitting in the refrigerator and it occurred to me to make poppers. My version is slightly lighter since they are baked, not fried. Give these baked poppers a try and let me know what you think.

Wow these look amazing…what is it about cheese and jalapenos that go so well together? I don't care if the cheese which the cinema serves nachos with is processed- I love every bite of that gooey goodness! Another processed favorite is undoubtedly Oreos: trans fat or not, I will never rule them out of my diet!

This is a favorite treat here in Texas. While I have many of these, I never really taken the time to make them. Most likely due to the mess of deep frying, but your method here does put a whole new spin on things. Baking is healthier and easier. These do look quite addictive-yum!

I used to love the mozzarella sticks that TGIF used to sell in the frozen section. Those were amazing!! And the Texas Toast from Pepperidge Farm I think? But I haven't had either in a long, long time now!

    These look delicious.

Yum!! Those look even tastier than the frozen jalapeno poppers. My processed food weakness is Hot & Spicy cheez its. They are so addicting.

@Khushboo – of course, Oreo cookies rock! Love them too.. a good alternative is Newman's version of the Oreo cookies, more natural.

Why would you get rid of all the natural delicious heat from the jalapenos, and instead add yucky cayenne pepper, which will stay in your mouth all day?

@Anonymous – the seeds of the jalapeño are very hot for me. I prefer the cayenne pepper. You can certainly leave the seeds in.
