The past few months I’ve noticed Trader Joe’s is beginning to offer more organic and gluten-free items, and as always the cost is very reasonable. My favorite find this past month was Trader Joe’s Everything but the Bagel Sesame Seasoning! OMG… seriously amazing! If you haven’t tried it, you’re missing out, it’s the little things in life I tell you. To share with you are my 5 latest finds at Trader Joe’s.
1. Trader Joe’s Everything but the Bagel Sesame Seaoning
This seasoning is easily one of the best seasonings I have ever had. I top it over anything, but I especially love it over avocado toast topped with a fried egg. Since this seasoning contains a decent amount of salt, I don’t add any additional salt to this meal. Additionally there are NO PRESERVATIVES! And it’s just $2! What a steal! Love.
2. Trader Joe’s Mango Ginger Chutney
An Indian inspired chutney that is slightly sweet and sour. I love pairing this with a samosa, or any Indian snack really. I also love eating this delicious chutney with crackers and cheese. Unfortunately, just 1 tablespoon has 6 grams of sugar, so definitely eat in moderation. Love.
3. Trader Joe’s Organic Toasted Coconut Granola
Imagine how excited I was to see the words organic, coconut and gluten free all in one description. Nothing is better! On a positive note, this delicious granola is 100% whole grain and low sodium. On the downside, it contains some sugar and doesn’t have much fiber. I still love it and will continue topping my oatmeal with this granola – in moderation, of course. Love.
4. Trader Ming’s Mandarin Orange Chicken
This item in the frozen foods section is actually highly rated so I was quite excited to try it despite it being fried and all. I added additional veggies, baked the chicken and topped it with the orange sauce that it came with. Sadly, I wasn’t a fan, I felt so bad eating it because it was fried and I found the chicken to be a little tough and chewy. The good news is 1 cup of chicken amounts to 21 grams of protein, the bad news is this product is high in cholesterol and is too sweet. The way I see it is if I’m eating fried food, it better be amazing else it’s not worth it. Just okay.
5. Trader Joe’s Himalayan Pink Salt Crystals
I know, I know, what’s so special about salt. It’s not until I saw my mom using pink salt and she mentioned it is better for you than regular salt. The next time I went to Trader Joe’s, I spotted Himalayan Pink Salt and bought it and for just $2. Love.
