Friday’s Favorite Things - 6.21.13

This past weekend was all about birthday celebrations and I enjoyed all my favorite things. Thanks VS for a fun filled weekend full of things I enjoy!
Unfortunately once Sunday night rolled around, I fell sick.  Sinus Infection!  As much as I hate taking antibiotics, I can’t seem to avoid them when I’m miserable.  Though I’m not yet 100%, I feel so much better.  Health is the greatest wealth!

1. Peach Cosmopolitan @ TAO
TAO is one of my favorite establishments in Manhattan, this place is P-E-R-F-E-C-T-I-O-N!  This was the best birthday *surprise* dinner.  Of course, I kicked off my birthday celebration with a Peach Cosmo made with Stoli Peach, Pallini Peachello, Triple Sec, Cranberry Juice, and Fresh Lime… oh mother may I?  I know a couple weeks ago I mentioned how I had the most amazing cocktails in Miami, uhhh yeah, I take that back, this was just something extraordinary.  Peach + Cranberry = oooooh!  It’s frightening how deliciously good and smooth Tao’s cocktails are, I would risk serious health problems if I worked/lived close to Tao, but it’s a good thing it doesn't take much to get me tipsy.  ~ priceless cocktails @ TAO tao birthday2

2. Triple Chocolate Meltdown @ Applebees
From Tao to Applebees, talk about extremes, well at least you know I’m NOT partial.  :-)  I can’t remember the last time I went to Applebees, but every single time I've gone, I have to order Death by Chocolate which is now called Triple Chocolate Meltdown which is essentially a Molten Lava Cake.  A warm cake with hot chocolate fudge inside served with vanilla ice-cream, whipped cream, and drizzled hot fudge.  Oooooooh!  A favorite dessert at a franchise restaurant, and I just had to have it when we drove by Applebees... twas' a late night calling.  ~ heaven @ ApplebeesIMG_3332

3. Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani
Seeing a good Hindi film brings me joy, seeing one in the theater brings me immense joy.  This past weekend I finally saw Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani.  So my fellow readers, if Bollywood movies are your cup of tea, go see this one, 2 hours of romance, eye candy, great outfits, and fun songs.  On a deeper level though, I felt the movie is about finding oneself and figuring out what it is that you want out of life.  Aside from the great storyline, the cast was awesome.  Deepika Pandukone is stunning!  She is, in my opinion, one of the hottest Bollywood actresses at the moment, a full package – nice body, tall, gorgeous, sexy, great dressing style, good acting & dancing skills, blah, blah, blah – that’s all you need to make it big in Bollywood (*sarcasm*).  Ranbir Kapoor is getting better with age, he's hot, he acts well and exudes so much confidence, and he sure can dance his ass off... love that!  And the surprise for me was Madhuri Dixit, her impeccable dancing skills, her playful expressions, her timeless beauty, she has aged so gracefully and still looks incredibly beautiful at 46.  Lastly, the songs are all excellent, but my 3 favorites Badtameez Dil, Dilliwaali Girlfriend, and Balam Pichkari.  ~ money well spent!  yeh-jawani-hai-deewani_1365160991

TELL ME: What’s your favorite thing to do on your birthday (weekend)?  Have you seen Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani?  Thoughts?

  1. Sounds like a great birthday weekend and glad you are on the mend :)! I loved Yeh Jawani too- such a feel good movie and 3 hours of Ranbir didn't hurt either ;)! I feel like he is this generation's Shah Rukh Khan..and will perhaps be even bigger! As for the music, I am addicted- it's the perfect workout soundtrack too! Have you seen Aashiqui 2? That's next on my list especially as it's gotten fab reviews! The friend from Yeh Jawani is the main actor!

    1. Thanks K! Yeah... Ranbir is so cute. He is definitely going to be the next SRK - so lovable. The music is addicting, I just downloaded my 3 favorites... and I'm gonna hit the gym shortly. I haven't seen Aashiqui 2, I'll have to check out the cast and story line before I see it in the theater. :) The friend was cute too.

    1. Haha.. yes.. defo. Love the peach addition to it, but I'm not a huge fan of cranberry, the flavors were hidden with the peach.

  9. I saw YJHD on Thursday. I had to see it at home, since watching bollywood movies on the big screen is not a choice where we stay. Except for eye candy (Ranbir Kapoor and his dancing...*SWOON*) it was a pretty regular chick flick type movie. Wasn't as impressed, but would be fun to see all the colors and dance and hear the music in the theatre (and of course lust at a bigger than life size Ranbir kapoor). The peach cosmos does sound wonderful. I feel like making myself one. :)

    1. Aww.. but wasn't it awesome. His dancing is kickass. Awww.. that sucks you didn't like it, definitely chick flick, but I guess I'm into that. Sometimes I think seeing movies in the theater make you love it even more.. and I try to see the fun movies in the theater. Oooh.. I'll wait for the recipe on your site.

    1. Haha.. yes.. it sure was.. but it took forever. I think I need to be taking my meds throughout Springtime even if I feel fine. Madhuri was in one song, but the movie is worth seeing regardless. :)

  12. Oh lovely birthday treats! I always go for the molten lava cake at Chilli's like for more than 5 years now. Never tried the one at Applebees! Now it's on my list.

I didn't watch the movie as I got mixed reviews for story and additionally I don't like Deepika as an actor...I would definitely watch it for Ranbir though!

For my birthdays, I love dinners and a big yummy cake! This year hubby got me Tres Leches, yum! Usually like to shop right before the birthday to wear something new!

Enjoyed your bday pics with fab cocktails and cake!

Aww... I love Deepika.. I think she's natural at acting. Ranbir is amazing.
Love dinners and cake for my birthday too, along with a thoughtful card. LOVE Tres Leches.
Thanks so much.. I'm so tempted to call you Shakira.. your name looks like Shakira. :)
