After the mini birthday celebration, my friend, Jhiane, and I headed over to our friend’s, Anu, home where we hung out until 4 am drinking wine, enjoyed a Thai dinner, gossiped, and indulged in my leftover Triple Coconut Cake w/tea. Sleepovers are so fun and therapeutic with girlfriends, they make me feel as though I am 21 again and back in college. I don’t think this tradition of ours will ever get old, married or not, kids or not, I am all about needing my “me” time with my girls!
1. Kiehl’s Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado
After reading rave reviews on the Avocado Eye Cream, I recently purchased this Kiehl’s Eye Cream. Now although this eye cream is NOT an anti-aging cream, I still wanted to purchase it to see what the hype was all about. After using it for about 2 weeks now, the skin around my eye area is left feeling moist and cool after applying. There is no stinging whatsoever, and the fine lines around my eyes appear softer. It’s a thick moisturizing eye cream that would probably work best for women in their early to mid 20s. Great stuff, but I definitely need to invest in an eye cream that defies those wrinkles. ~ $29 @ Nordstrom
2. Essie’s Where’s My Chauffeur
If you follow me on Instagram or Facebook already, you probably saw pictures of my toes painted in this gorgeous shade of blue nail polish. I absolutely LOVE bright turquoise blue, a color that reminds me no matter what ups and downs life throws at you, life is too damn short to be anything but happy! Doesn’t turquoise look so pretty on my dainty feet? Love Essie! ~ $8 @ Zappos or ~ $6.50 @ Amazon
3. Mast Brothers Almond Chocolate Bar
I first noticed this chocolate bar at a French Bakery near my work where I buy my daily coffee. After receiving a sales pitch on how Mast Brothers is the best quality chocolate bar in New York City, and me assuming a chocolate bar would be around $4 or $5, I handed the French guy a bar to purchase and he rang me up $8.50 (chocolate) + $1.65 (coffee). Say WHA? The “cheap” me wanted to so badly say, “uhmm… it’s okay, skip the chocolate, just the coffee,” but the “proud” me decided not to hold up a long line and embarrass myself, and hence my submissive self spent almost $9 on a stupid chocolate bar. IKR!!!
As I walked to work pouting with my coffee and chocolate bar I thought, this stuff better be good, it better be worth every penny, oh it BETTER be AMAZING!!! Verdict? It was good, very good, especially the almond bar combined with sea salt ~ oh yeah! But honestly, not sure if it’s worth $8.50, and I am no chocolate expert that I would be able to distinguish between good quality chocolate versus premium quality chocolate. For now, I’d much rather stick to my organic Trader Joe dark chocolate bars, or even Lindt dark chocolate at more than half off. ~ $8.50 @ Mast Brothers
