Friday’s Favorite Things - 2.1.13

This week has been exhausting at work, but the good thing is my project has FINALLY come to an end after so many delays.  It feels good to embark on the next new project at work… can’t wait.  What else?  I’m sure we are all looking forward to the SUPER BOWL, at least for Beyonce.  My prediction is the San Francisco 49ers will win because they were my late brother-in-law’s favorite team.  I know he’s up there rooting for them.  Let’s watch and see if my prediction comes true, work your magic A!  :-)
Here are Friday's Favorites...

1. Mixed Berry Mojito @ Kittichai
My partner in crime, Jhiane, met up with me at Kittichai this past week.  An eclectic Thai restaurant with the most gorgeous d├ęcor, the food could have been a little better, but the drinks did not fail, especially this refreshing Mixed Berry Mojito that was perfectly sweet and minty.  I felt as though I was drinking juice.  Those are the most dangerous types of cocktails, the ones that taste like juice and then 20 minutes later you’re tipsy.  Oops!  ~ $15 @ Kittichai, New York City (Soho)

2. Peanut Butter & Jelly Cupcake @ The Magnolia Bakery
Talk about vices!  Since I just happened to be in the area, I picked up 2 peanut butter & jelly cupcakes for my husband and I to share.  And then I walked home 30 blocks as I negotiated with myself that it’ll all even out at the end.  The PB&J cupcake is my most favorite cupcake at Magnolia with luscious creamy peanut butter frosting on top and jelly oozing out in every bite.  Despite me loving this cupcake so much, I have to say Magnolia’s cupcakes are way too sweet, they really need to take them down a notch.  ~ $3.50 @ The Magnolia Bakery, New York City (Rockefeller Center)

3. SUPER BOWL IDEAS!

  1. Errr I want a pb & j cupcake now- YUM! Love the sound of that Magnolia variety! My mom grew up in San Fran so I guess I shall be rooting for the 49'ers...but between u and me, I have NO understanding of American Football! A favorite of mine this week is vegan overnight oats- I made them for breakfast today after like 2 years and I definitely forgot how much I enjoy 'em!

  3. Ok... maybe I have too many vices but if I were to choose from the above 3 it would be the cocktails! Especially Mojitos of any kind but my favourite so far has been Mango Mojito I had in a bar somewhere in London- it was a shame I was driving that night otherwise I would had a few more!

Sugar is a big time vice for me and I have to be careful consuming it or I want it ALL the time.

  5. I'll take a mojito and a plate of everything you posted! Thanks for the ideas. I've been trying to figure out what to bring to a Superbowl party we're going to, since I'm pretty sure I'll be the only vegetarian there. Haha! Will definitely be coming back to check out these recipes. Have a great weekend!

  8. @Khushboo - I love overnight oats too, I don't even mind 1 hour oats.. they get so gooey. Maybe I'll have it for dinner tonight. :-) Magnolia is a good bakery, but way too sweet. Wow, didn't know your mom grew up in SFO.. so you have some American in you, not just British. Haha. :-)

  9. @Amelia - Yes, the berry mojito was amazing.. once I master making a regular mojito, I can probably make the flavored ones. Thanks so much!

  10. @Sejal - crazy. Mango Mojito is my favorite too.. it's like my backup at every single restaurant even if it's not on the menu, they'll make it for me. LOVE IT! It's a shame we have to drive at times. :-)

  11. @Christin - I have tried to curb my sugar intake by skipping it in my coffee/tea.. tea I have been able to master, but coffee can get bitter and hence why I may add some brown sugar. As for desserts, they are a standard 3 times a week, can't live without it. :-)

  12. @Parita - thanks! All of them are hits, but if you are going for appetizers, the hummus is tasty and so easy to make, the poppers are fantastic, and the sliders are delicious provided that you want to stand in front of the stove and cook. Hope that helps.

  13. @Ameena - well, I'm off to TJ's today, so I'll definitely pick one up. I need to eat more dark chocolate and skip these desserts, I'll be so fat in 10 years. haha.. I can be funny at times.. I have such low tolerance.
