… who constantly nags me, never takes ‘no’ for an answer, and shows me an unconditional amount of love thru her food, especially her parathas, my favorite!
1. Speculoos Cookie Butter @ Trader Joe’s
If you’ve ever boarded a Delta flight, you must have had the pleasure of enjoying a Biscoff biscuit which tastes like a gingerbread cookie. If not, order them from Biscoff, a San Francisco based gourmet store. I wasn’t aware that Biscoff made a spread that tastes just like their cookie, and now Trader Joe’s has their own version of a similar spread that tastes just like the Biscoff cookie. Please do yourself a favor and buy this stuff, it is scrumptious. I even woke up EARLY (imagine that) one morning super excited for breakfast! I spread some cookie butter on a whole wheat toast and topped it with sliced bananas and chia seeds. Delicious stuff, but I am not too thrilled about their ingredient list, so this will be a “once in a while” type thing for me! ~ $4 @ Trader Joe’s
2. Ben & Jerry’s Chunky Monkey Ice-Cream
On my way to my brother’s home, I picked up some ice-cream for my nieces to enjoy. And since I know my brother DETESTS bananas, I decided to pick up a banana flavor for everyone else to enjoy – c’mon, that’s pretty funny! LOL! The Chunky Monkey ice-cream by Ben & Jerry’s is tastylicious! Creamy banana ice-cream combined with walnuts and chocolate chips. My nieces and the entire family loved it, and my brother who hates bananas said it was “not bad.” I’m going to make my own “healthy” version of this ice-cream, soon! ~ $5.50 @ most grocery stores
3. Peanut Butter Toffee Bar @ Magnolia Bakery
Once a week on my way home, I’ll stop by Magnolia’s to pick up a dessert. This week I treated myself to a peanut butter toffee bar. It is a super moist peanut butter bar topped with a caramel-like peanut butter topping (oooh), and then finished off with Heath toffee chips and salted peanuts. Now just imagine a combination of sweet, savory, and salty all in the same bite. DECADENT! ~ $2.50 @ Magnolia Bakery, Rockefeller Center – New York City
DISLIKE OF THE WEEK
Trader Joe’s Salsa Verde
As much as I love TJ’s, their salsa verde is so high in sodium, I was barely able to taste the tomatillo flavor in this salsa. So far, the best tomatillo salsa I’ve had is Frontera’s – so good!
