1. The Elvis Cupcake @ Butter Lane Cupcakes
As soon as someone mentions “Elvis,” I immediately know it’s gonna be a delicious combination of peanut butter and banana. After dinner at Cafecito, my husband and I headed to Butter Lane Cupcakes, also in the East Village, to pick up their bestseller, the “Elvis Cupcake.” Essentially, the Elvis Cupcake is a banana cupcake topped off with creamy peanut butter frosting, the combination is moist and lethally delicious, and one of the BEST cupcakes I’ve ever had. Something tells me I’ll be in the East Village quite a bit this summer. ~ $3.25 each @ Butter Lane Cupcakes, East Village – New York City
2. Rao’s Homemade Marinara Sauce
For the longest time, my friend, Marian, has been raving about Rao’s Homemade Sauce. And each time I’d go to the grocery store and see Rao’s sauce staring me in the face at $9 a jar. Seriously? Each time I’d pass on it because spending $9 on a jar of pasta sauce is a bit ridiculous. So this past weekend when I went shopping, I found Rao’s sauce on sale for $5.50 and I bought one jar. Once I tasted it, I couldn’t believe how refreshing, amazing, and perfectly homemade it tasted. It was as though the sauce was made right then and there, from scratch, and indeed, homemade! Verdict – worth every penny! Thank you to my good friend, Marian, who introduces me to the “finer” things in life – everyone should have one of those. ~ $9 @ most grocery stores (SALE) $5.50
And then I made this… I’ll share my recipe soon.
3. Bowed Shirt @ Zara (purchased in navy blue)
My shopaholic friend, Sheetal, and I headed for shopping after work. Yeah, I know we don’t need anything, but who does? We really just get together to hangout, but then besides eating, gossiping, and shopping what else can we do after work? Anyhoooo, I spotted this adorable bowed blouse and purchased it in navy… it’s slightly translucent so you can wear it with a tank top underneath or not. This navy blue top in 100% viscose pairs up nicely with shorts or black skinny jeans, I’m even thinking green/red skinny jeans for a bold look, with some nude heels – HOT! I’m in love with Zara – it’s my new favorite clothing store. ~ $35 @ Zara
DISLIKE OF THE WEEK (a new section I’m starting because let’s face it, I can’t only have “favorites.” I eat a lot of stuff I dislike!
Pecorino Romano Cheese
Instead of grabbing my favorite parmesan cheese, I thought of trying Pecorino Romano – big mistake. It’s way saltier than parmesan and has a strong pungent flavor, and if you have a taste palette for salty & pungent, you will love Pecorino. Unfortunately, I don’t, and I was so sad this cheese didn’t appeal to me since most Italian chefs love Pecorino Romano Cheese, and well, you know, I wanna have a “chef” taste palette too.
