Life is about needs, but sometimes we need to cater to those desires as well.
Let’s face it, we all know…
someone who purchases their daily dose of Starbucks caffeine ~ $5 a day,
or someone who hits the bar nightly ~ $20 a day or more,
or someone who get their nails done weekly ~ $40 a week,
or someone who eats out all the time ~ $200 a week.
Well, I am not any of the persons I just described, however I sure do have a strong affinity towards Designer Handbags.
How did this happen? I blame 2 people. My friend, Marian, for influencing me over all her designer handbag talk that I eventually became intrigued. And my husband for actually buying me my very first designer bag – a Michael Kors bag featured on Oprah – and once I carried the “original,” I was converted for life. So as you can see, I’m a victim. 🙁
The way I see it, it’s all about enjoying life to the fullest and making yourself happy with things you love every now and then. And let’s not forget, the daily desires are inexpensive, but frequent, the semi-annual desires are more expensive, but seldom. So which one are you?
And now, here are my top 5 all time favorite designer handbags that are on my wish list. Click on the bag image above to view or link to it below.
1. Marc Jacobs Quilted Carmine Satchel (black/pink) ~ $1200 @ Bloomingdales (top left)
I saw a 20 something year old girl carrying this gorgeous bag in baby pink, and I didn’t hesitate for a second to ask her who the designer was, for it was love at first site with this bag. She said, “Marc Jacobs,” but of course it was. I find myself drawn to more and more bags by Marc Jacobs. This gorgeous quilted satchel sits #1 on my wish list – SOMEDAY I’m gonna buy this bag!
2. Mulberry Alexa Leather Bag (brown) ~ $1250 @ Net-A-Porter (bottom left)
My second favorite bag is the Mulberry Alexa. It’s the perfect messenger bag that’s great for work or a casual day out. I can just envision the look… dark jeans, brown boots, a white top, sunglasses, and the Mulberry Alexa sitting at my hip. YES, someday!
3. Marc by Marc Jacobs Natasha Leather Shoulder Bag (black/green/red) ~ $370 @ Net-A-Porter (center)
My name was suppose to be Natasha, but my dad forgot my name on his way to the “baby name place” and named me something else instead – SIGH! It would have been so cool to be named Natasha, sounds exotic, no? I spotted a girl in my apartment building carrying this “Natasha” bag, and again, I didn’t hesitate to ask her who the designer was, and of course, once again, it was Marc Jacobs. Love this bag in all colors, especially black, green, white, and red.
4. Rebecca Minkoff M.A.C. Clutch (black) ~ $300 @ Rebecca Minkoff (top right)
I’ve seen a few people walking around New York City with the M.A.C. clutch and it looks so elegant when paired up with a dress or skirt with tights. It comes at a fairly reasonable cost for a designer bag at $300 so I’d be willing to invest in a pastel color for the summertime. Rebecca Minkoff’s bags are starting to grow on me, slowly but surely.
5. Chanel WGACA Vintage Bag (black) ~ $4200 @ Shopbop (bottom right)
“Chanel’s a classic that never goes out of style” – I stole that line from Carrie Bradshaw. Sometimes I can’t figure out if I want the bag itself, or if I’m just in love with the Chanel logo. I first noticed Lauren Conrad carrying this bag on the TV show, The Hills, and in pictures of her in US Weekly magazine. Although very much desired, this bag is last on my list due to the unforeseen price tag, although it may happen someday, I think I’d feel all too guilty spending four grand on a purse, I mean, you can go to Europe instead. 🙂
